Finding parking on the busiest streets of the UK is no less than a hassle. Imagine you went to the cinema hall to watch your favorite movie only to find out that all the parking spaces are already full. Wait, there’s one space available, and you’re about to pay for it. In the meantime, someone comes and parks their vehicle. You feel irritated, Right? But what if you had paid for the parking slot in advance? That’s where RingGo enters the scene.

RingGo app is an advanced parking solution that allows people to pay for their parking spaces in advance. The app’s unique concept and intent to solve real issues is what makes it one of the most downloaded apps in the UK.

While being an advanced replacement for traditional parking solutions, it is obvious to have a list full of questions about RingGo. If you’re about to get started with RingGo, this review will answer all your questions regarding this advanced parking app in the UK.

What is RingGo?

RingGo is an advanced parking app that lets you pay for parking quickly and easily through your debit/credit card rather than finding change and paying at parking meters. That’s not all! You can park your car and pay by phone using the RingGo app, calling a dedicated phone number, SMS, or online.

The introduction of RingGo services does not intend to replace traditional parking meters. Users can still pay by cash. RingGo app only serves as a convenient alternative. The main three benefits of the RingGo app include

  • No need to carry change
  • No need to visit the parking meter
  • No need to keep the parking ticket

How Does RingGo App Work?

RingGo uses the EasyPark SmartHUB as an add-on. This SmartHUB is a comprehensive solution that collects, standardizes, and displays real-time parking information from various sources. These sources include providers of cashless parking, ePermits, Pay&Display machines, digital enforcement, and automated in-car payments. All this data is processed and displayed on an easy-to-use parking dashboard.

The service is hosted entirely on the cloud and operates around the clock, thanks to its robust 'twin hot' system architecture. This design ensures that technical issues, updates, or maintenance do not disrupt routine operations.

In the event of a system failure or unexpected downtime, the backup server automatically takes over, managed by a fully automated process. This seamless transition allows end-users and clients to continue booking parking sessions without noticing any change in the quality of service they receive.

Is RingGo Safe to Use?

Yes, RingGo is safe to use due to the fact that it holds the Payment Card Industry Security Standard (PCI-DSS) certification. This standard is an initiative by leading credit card companies like American Express, Discover, JCB, MasterCard, and Visa to enhance the security measures around credit card data and minimize fraudulent activities.

RingGo, legally known as PARK NOW Ltd., is subjected to regular evaluations by independent entities to achieve this certification. These evaluations include penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, and audits conducted by an external Qualified Security Assessor (QSA).

The findings of these assessments are reviewed by Visa and MasterCard, who then update the list of organizations that comply with the standard. This ensures that RingGo maintains the highest level of security when handling credit card data.

How Much Does It Cost to Use RingGo?

Signing up for RingGo is completely free, and you won't be charged for the text message that confirms your PIN when you create your account.

However, using RingGo to park your car would cost you an additional 20p convenience fee on top of the standard parking rates. This fee will appear on your monthly credit or debit card statement.

If you call RingGo, you'll be charged the standard rate. However, if your mobile phone plan includes free minutes, this call will likely be covered by those.

If you choose to use RingGo's 'text to park' feature, you'll be charged for the text message at the rate set by your service provider. You'll also be charged a 10p fee for the confirmation text message you automatically receive, which provides the details of your parking session.

At the same time, the text messages that confirm your parking session or remind you when your session is about to end are charged at 10p per message.

Can I Pay RingGo Online?

Yes, you can pay for your parking online through RingGo. At most locations, the available payment modes include debit/credit card options, net banking, SMS, and Apple Pay.

RingGo is revolutionizing the entire UK parking industry by offering people the option to go cashless. You don’t have to carry change with you every time.

Can you Cancel a RingGo Payment?

No, you can’t cancel a RingGO payment, as the service is not required to issue refunds or cancel parking sessions that have been initiated unless a system error occurs on their end.

As soon as a user registers with RingGO, the service is activated immediately, granting the user access to its parking payment systems and associated services, as specifically requested by the user.

Consequently, the user acknowledges that the RingGO service commences instantly and understands that they forfeit any right to withdraw from their agreement with RingGO.

What Happens If You Forget to Pay for RingGo Parking?

If you've overlooked paying for your parking, don't worry. Some places offer the option to pay retrospectively. If this feature is available when you're booking, you can choose the start time and date for your parking.

As for the grace period in RingGo parking, you're given a ten-minute window to get back to your vehicle after your pay-and-display ticket or RingGo session has ended in pay-and-display and shared-use parking spaces. Remember, if you want to prolong your parking time, you need to do it before your RingGo session runs out.

What is the Maximum Stay at RingGo?

The maximum stay at a RingGo parking location can vary depending on the specific parking area's rules and regulations.  Typically, the maximum stay can range from a few hours to an entire day. Some locations may even offer overnight or multi-day parking options.

It's important to note that exceeding the maximum stay limit can result in penalties, so it's always a good idea to check the parking signs or the RingGo app for the specific maximum stay information before leaving your vehicle. RingGo has set these maximum stay limits to ensure fair access to parking for everyone.

Do RingGo Car Parks Have Cameras?

Yes, RingGo Car Parks do have cameras. They use a service called RingGo PayLater. This service operates using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras. These cameras capture an image of your vehicle as you arrive and leave the car park. The image will pick up your number plate and the time you entered and exited the car park.

In addition to facilitating digital payments, these cameras also monitor onsite numbers and provide security protection. This technology is not only convenient but also enhances the safety of your vehicle while it's parked. So, when you use RingGo Car Parks, you can rest assured that your vehicle is being monitored for its safety.

How Do I Book Parking on RingGo?

Booking a parking spot on RingGo is simple. There are only a few simple steps, including

  • First, you need to download the RingGo Parking app from either Google Play or the App Store. Once the app is installed on your device, open it and log in using your credentials.
  • Select the Permits option from the app's main screen. This will take you to a screen where you can choose the zone or car park where you wish to park your vehicle. Make sure to double-check that the selected zone or car park is correct before proceeding to the next step.
  • After confirming the zone or car park, click on the Next button. You will then be prompted to choose the duration of your stay from a menu. This allows you to customize your parking session according to your needs.
  • Once you've selected the duration, click on Next again. At this point, you have the option to set SMS alerts. These alerts can notify you when your parking session is about to end, helping you avoid any potential fines.
  • After setting up the SMS alerts, click on Next one more time. You will be taken to a summary page where you can review all the details of your parking session. If everything is correct, select the Book Parking option.
  • Upon successful payment, you will see a confirmation message. You can then view your active parking session within the app.

Why is RingGo Parking More Expensive?

RingGo charges a convenience fee on top of standard parking fees. The convenience fee is approximately 20p, which is quite affordable. However, this additional charge may seem costlier for many. In our review of RingGo, we didn’t find RingGo charges to be expensive but something that won’t ruin your monthly budget.

Conclusion
